George Mason Professor Recommends “Brain Games” for Aging Adults
Andrew Carle, assistant professor and director of the Program in Assisted Living/Senior Housing Administration at George Mason University, recently released a list of the top computer based technologies that he feels can improve the quality of life for aging adults. The list includes Posit Science ™-Brain Fitness Program 2.0, a program designed to help boost memory and mental clarity; MindFit ™, a software program targeted to improving short-term memory; the Dakim [m]Power ™, designed in conjunction with the UCLA Center on Aging; and MyBrainTrainer.com™, a web-based system that retails for only $9.95 a year. Carle points to research that shows that “brain strength” like “physical strength” is a “use it or lose it” proposition.
For assisted living facilities, tools such as those enumerated on Carle’s list can add significant marketing value.
