National LGBT Task Force Lands Big Media Hit

In the past, the GMMR has spoken to Amber Hollibaugh about her position as Senior Strategist for the LGBT Aging Initiative of The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. The Task Force goal of educating the public about the unique needs and aging experiences of the LGBT community was given quite a boost this week from a front page story in The New York Times. The article examines the myriad complexities that face gays as they age as well as the prejudices that they encounter in assisted living centers and nursing homes. Hollibaugh is hopeful that the article will generate enough reader interest to merit a follow-on piece so that the issue can be even more thoroughly explored. The Task Force has its own blog and is encouraging people to send in their own stories and thoughts.
